Solutions for Wastewater Treatment & Management

No matter the application, FRC has a state-of-the-art solution for your application.

FRC Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) units are a great addition to municipal wastewater systems to enhance treatment, remove algae and phosphorus from municipal lagoons, thicken Waste-Activated Sludge (WAS) and treat industrial inputs that have not been properly pretreated. No matter the application, FRC has a state-of-the-art solution for your application.

These solutions are robust, operator-friendly systems that have a minimal footprint along with low chemical and operating expense, allowing for a cost-effective alternative to traditional solutions.

Our municipal Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) units are designed to work with municipal wastewater treatment systems. Enhance your treatment system using dissolved air flotation to thicken waste-activated sludge (WAS) prior to anaerobic digestors or remove algae and phosphorus (TP) using a high-rate DAF.

Algae & Phosphorus Removal

Typically, municipalities deal with algae blooms and phosphorus separately. A FRC high-rate Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system can mitigate the negative impact of algae blooms by effectively removing algae and the associated phosphorus at the same time. These solids can be chemically precipitated out of the wastewater using a coagulant and then agglomerated with a flocculant, which can be done in a Plug Flow Reactor (PFR). A FRC DAF is then used to remove the solids. Total phosphorus removal of up to 99% is possible with this metal-salt precipitation method.

WAS Thickening

Biological treatment systems with a secondary clarifier produce sludge with a dry solids range of 0.5–1.0%. With so much of the sludge being made up of water, proper thickening mechanisms should be implemented to reduce the volume of sludge sent to an anaerobic digestor or reduce the size of dewatering equipment and solids disposal costs. Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems can thicken aerobic and anaerobic sludge to 4-10% solids. In this state, the sludge is better prepared for digestion and dewatering.
